Shaper Hands

A free volunteer-driven movement to help at-risk people in getting essential resources during the height of the pandemic. Shaper Hands serviced local communities in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Orange County, New York City, Seattle, Sacramento, and San Francisco. We mobilized a group of engaged volunteers to bring groceries and supplies to members of the community at high risk.

SHAPE The Vote

We built an interactive experience to connect with election candidates and shared their dialogues to inform down-ballot issues for voters across Los Angeles. We also mobilized young people to be heard. Given the uncertainty around the impacts of COVID-19 on voting this fall, we launched a “Vote by Mail” campaign with a goal to encourage young people in LA to vote by mail in 2020.

Climate Shapers

Climate Memes for Sustainable Teens! Climate memes for sustainable teens is a social media movement and channel to build climate change awareness through Internet memes. By building an audience through memes and strategic partnerships, climate change can be more accessible to the masses by leveraging science, humor, and pop-culture.

NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS

We’re pursuing a community engagement project, in coordination with the City of Los Angeles, Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (EmpowerLA) to increase millennial engagement with the Los Angeles Neighborhood Councils, including supporting millennial boards activity and increasing millennial voter turnout during the 2019 Neighborhood Council elections.

Future-Thon

A bi-annual hack-a-thon with local college students who develop solutions for the most pressing current issues of Los Angeles. In its first year we addressed Californian drought and voter turnout. Winning teams were awarded prizes that included mentorship to carry out their project. Last year's winning team, BallotView, created a free and non-partisan local ballot app.

Walk THE WALK

Focused on experiencing the diverse neighborhoods and cultures that make up the City of Los Angeles. Through walking tours, we engage directly with community partners, artists, and policy makers to build awareness about key issues different communities in the city face, and to highlight the ways they have responded to them.
